All Saints' Day [Astro*Index]The date originally used to celebrate the consecration of the Pantheon at Rome as a Christian church; it is set as November 1 in the modern calendar. Halloween is celebrated as the preceding evening, October 31. Some confusion has resulted from changes in the calendar in the fixing of both dates.
