Antiscion [Astro*Index]Also called solstice or mirror point.
A planet's antiscion is its reflection across the Cancer-Capricorn solstice axis. (However far one planet is on one side of this axis, its antiscion is that far on the other side of the axis.) The same signs are always paired with each other: Cancer/Gemini, Leo/Taurus, Virgo/Aries, Libra/Pisces, Scorpio/Aquarius, Sagittarius/Capricorn. Antiscia sign pairs have the same declination (daylight is equal when the Sun is positioned at antiscia degrees). Parallels of declination are a modern use of antiscia. Using the 90° dial, and in Uranian astrology, antiscia and contra-antiscia are identical (as are the four cardinal points) and only the term antiscia is used. As indicators in Uranian astrology, antiscia signify career, vocation, and one's relationship with the world.
For points between 0° and 180° (using 360° notation) ------------------------------------------------------- Antiscion = 180°- point Contra-antiscion = 360° - point Examples: 23° Taurus (53°); 14° Cancer (104°) Antiscions = 180° - 53° = 127° (7° Leo) 180° - 104° = 76° (16° Gemini) Contra-antiscion = 360° - 53° = 307° (7° Aquarius) = 360° - 104° = 256° (16° Sagittarius) (Antiscion/contra-antiscion pairs are always opposite) For points between 180° and 360° (using 360° notation) ------------------------------------------------------ Antiscion = 540°- point Contra-antiscion = 360° - point Examples: 201° (21° Libra); 296° (26° Capricorn) Antiscions = 540° - 201° = 339° (9° Pisces) 540° - 296° = 244° (4° Sagittarius) Contra-antision = 360° - 201° = 159° (9° Virgo) = 360° - 296° = 64° (4° Gemini)

♦ Antiscia ♦ Beholding Signs ♦ Contra-antiscion ♦ Contra-parallel ♦ Parallel
As modernly used in the so-called Uranian Astrology, it is the reflex position of a planet's birth position, in that degree on the opposite side of the Cancer-Capricorn axis, of which either 0° Cancer or 0° Capricorn is the Midpoint. For example, the antiscion of a planet at 14° Capricorn is at 16° Saggitarius, which point becomes effective when occupied by another planet, or one in transit or by direction. As first used by Ptolemy the term is applied to two planets which have the same declination on the same side of the equator. One in the same declination on the opposite side was termed a contra-antiscion. v. parallel.
