Conjunction [Astro*Index]Angular longitude separation of 0° within orb allowance; the first harmonic; by most astrologers, considered the most powerful aspect. Traditional meanings include reinforcement of planetary qualities and a concentration of influence; the beginning of a new cycle of relationship; coalescence of energies; subjectification, determination and indeterminateness at the same time. Whether it is a favorable or unfavorable depends on the planets involved. It is the first harmonic.

One of the major aspects. Division of the circle of the zodiac by 1.
Considered by most astrologers to be the most power- ful aspect. One of the major or Ptolemaic aspects, although Ptolemy did not consider it to be an aspect, strictly speaking, but a contact, since the planets involved were not "beholding" one another. Traditionally it is neither a hard nor a soft aspect; rather, its character depends on the nature of the planets conjoined. It represents the first harmonic. The parallel of declination is also thought by some to express the quality of a conjunction.
Signifies the beginning of a new cycle and an intense and indivisible coalescence of two energies.

Conjoined to. Phraseology to indicate the mutual relation of two planets occupying longitudinal positions separated by less than 7°. The exact limits, and the relative strength at different degrees of separation, constitutes a controversial point. Strictly speaking, the conjunction takes place when both occupy exactly the same degree position; although it begins to be operative when they arrive within orbs. v. Aspect.

The conjunction of an inferior planet, Mercury or Venus, with the Sun is an inferior conjunction when the planet is between the Earth and the Sun; a Superior Conjunction, when the Sun is between the Earth and the planet.
