Pole [Munkasey M.]

When working in three dimensional space, a Pole is a point which is ninety degrees from all parts of a circle. A point on a sphere which is everywhere ninety degrees from the Equatorial circle (or equatorial equivalent), is a Pole.

The north end of the Earth's axis, or the North Pole points directly at Polaris, a star in Ursa Minor, or the Little Bear. Thus, it appears to be fixed, and can be used as a directional or navigational reference point.
