Prenatal Epoch [Astro*Index]The theoretical moment of conception. A moment about 273 days before birth. (273 days is the average period of gestation). Some astrologers use the closest Moon in the same position it occurs in the birth chart to compute this, others use the nearest New or Full Moon. This sort of chart is said by some to indicate the time when the soul enters into the body. It is used by Esoteric astrologers to investigate spiritual qualities and to investigate previous incarnations.

A moment of time near the moment of conception (about 10 lunar months prior to birth). A chart computed for this moment, and for the mother's residence at that time, is called the PNE (Prenatal Epoch) chart. The PNE is determined by using a set of rules which interchange the Moon and Ascendant of the birthchart Ascendant (or Descendant) and Moon, respectively, of the PNE chart. Sometimes used as a Rectification tool.
