(410-485) Greek mathematician. Born at Constantinople, died at Athens.

A pagan who embraced neo- Platonism, which derives from the Roman philosopher, Plotinus. His writings include commentaries on the works of Plato, Ptolemy and Euclid. A teacher at the Academy, and ultimately its head, he was driven into exile (about 450) for one year, as a result of his pagan beliefs.
