A star which has a high luminosity but a low temperature.

♦ Luminosity
The apparent shift of spectral lines from distant stars toward the red end of the spectrum. This probably means that they are rapidly receding from us, and the shift is caused by the Doppler effect. This is one of the central facts in the Expanding Universe Theory.
