Speculum [Astro*Index]

1. A table appended to an astrological chart, comprising its astronomical elements: Right Ascension, Declination, Ascensional Difference, Semi-Arc, Latitude. It is used in computing Primary Directions.

2. A Mirror made of polished metal, usually gold or silver; thus, a mirrored lens in a telescope or other optical instrument.

A term used in Primary Directions to denote the table computed to hold the Planet's RA, AD, OD, OA, Q, and W values.

Speculum [DeVore]

A table appended to a horoscope, comprising its astronomical elements: the planets' latitude, declination, Right Ascension, Ascensional Difference, Pole and Semi-arc. It is employed in the practice of directing by Primary Directions (q.v.) as taught by Ptolemy.
