Co-Latitude [Astro*Index]Complement of latitude (í); the geographic or terretrial latitude minus 90°. To calculate a celestial body's coordinate position, a triangle is constructed on the celestial sphere composed of three sides: zenith to celestial pole (co-latitude), celestial pole to body, and body to zenith. The side of the spherical triangle connecting the celestial pole and the body extended to the celestial equator determines right ascension; extended to the ecliptic, the zodiacal longitude.
