Interstellar Extinction [Astro*Index](Also known as interstellar reddening)
The light of faraway celestial objects dimming because of interstellar dust. The amount of interstellar extinction is inversely proportional to wavelength. Thus the shorter wavelengths (blue), are affected more than the longer (red).
