Medium Coeli [Astro*Index]The midheaven.
The point where the Ecliptic intersects the Upper Meridian, so called because the sun culminates at this point around midday.

That point is space defined by the intersection of the local meridian with the Ecliptic in the South in the Northern hemisphere, and in the North in the Southern hemisphere.
In the Placidian system of houses the MC is also the cusp of the 10th house. The MC is opposite or 180 degrees from the IC.
