This is usually a rare issue and is easily fixed by following the directions below these notes; But if this is a common issue for you, please make sure you are using the latest versions of Win*Star 4.0 and Matrix Search.
Win*Star v4 is currently at version 4.02 and Searches is version 1.02.04. Be sure you are using the same or later version by going to the Help pull-down menu and choosing "about this program".
Matrix Search Lite can be updated by using the download link for Win*Star 4.0.
Matrix Search Pro can be updated by using its own download link.

If you are using the latest version of Searches and are still getting this error even after applying the fix below, please email us the file TMPHITS.mdb BEFORE following the directions below the NEXT time you get the error. We will examine the contents of the file to help us determine the cause of the error message and possibly create a permanent fix for your particular issue. Email the file as an attachment to cosmicpatternsoftware@gmail.com.
Once you have emailed us the file, you can continue on to follow the directions below so you can continue using Searches.
Here is how to fix the error if an update does not:
- Download the Searches_Fix.zip file and open it.
- On your keyboard hit:
CTRL-A
CTRL-C
(This will high-light the files and mark them to be copied. Windows does not give any indication when files are marked to be copied.)- Go back to your desktop.
- Right-click the desktop icon for Win*Star > Select the "Open File Location" option.
CTRL-V
You should get prompted that these files already exist.
Click on Copy and replace four times. (once for each file being copied)
Note:
For Step 3 if you are using XP instead of Vista or Win7 use the "Properties" option and then click "find Target"
